DLink-524 The used DLink 524 that I picked up from usedOttawa for $30 dollars is a pretty good buy. Having used this model before, I knew it was reliable. Decent wireless connectivity, along with all the other regular features like filtering, encryption, VPN and activity logging.

Setting up is a breeze, just plug and play.

One problem that I ran into was of setting up the SSID and enabling wireless encryption.

I have the same birthday as Winston Churchill, and Mark Twain. Sweet!! Well, kind of. Also, back in the day (in 1983) the a loaf of bread was only $0.54.

I ran across two websites that I found very interesting, and kept me occupied for quite a while.

Day Of Birth - General information regarding the day of your birth, your age, and how long you've been alive for in Days, Minutes and Seconds.

Now that my graduation is nearing, I have started thinking about my honours project. I knew I wanted to study something regarding field of user interfaces, but I wasn't sure how. At first, I was going to do a study on what makes a user interface good vs bad, but that was too easy, and I had already studied that in one of my classes. I wanted to learn something new and I think I may have found that.

It is not a direct study of user interfaces, but rather the direction applications are heading, and the way user interfaces are evolving. Adobe Flex will be a way for me to convey that. Flex incorporates all the aspects of a Rich Internet Application along with drag and drop functionality (Flex builder) that will help speed up my development time.

I love VLC Media Player... It plays almost any type of video and is super lightweight. A while ago I noticed that I was using a fairly old version of the player and decided to update it.

So, during the installation, I noticed the option for Mozilla Plugin. I though, great.. VLC + Firefox... this should be awesome...But not quite.

No more Alien Bees setup - at least for now. They were too expensive for what I wanted to do and too much equipment to lug around. Also, I wanted to be as mobile as possible so that I don't get bored of carrying all the equipment around and give up on anything. That's my biggest fear having invested almost $3000+ into my photo equipment. But I think Strobist and TFTTF will keep me busy and interested for a while - and they were the reason that I turned away from the Alien Bees setup.

So, now that I've decided to but some studio equipment, I thought I'd get a head start on learning all about that domain. I've been doing tons of reading, researching, watching and listening - Here is a catalogue of some of the sites and resources I have run across that I found very very useful.
