Beautiful metro system and beautiful buildings in Dubai. When you ride the metro (subway) there are buildings all around, and sometimes views to farther away buildings and the desert.

Mobile Blogging – Dubai

In this, our last post abroad, we will explain the titles of our blogs: “Mobile Blogging” – followed by a description. We have been taking all pictures for this blog using our mobile phones (cell phones) and writing/posting 95% of the blogs themselves, on our mobile phones. It has been a great trip and in a few hours we get on the plane to come home, back to Canada.

This post has pictures from our five days in Dubai. We have been staying with Uncle Sharuk and his family. They have a beautiful apartment at a very convenient location near the metro. We took the metro (subway) to the two large malls here – Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall. Mall of the Emirates is known for its indoor ski hill (we did not partake as we will be back in the snow very soon) and had a beautiful food court. Dubai Mall is known for it’s aquarium. We liked the aquarium there, but the photos you see below are from the aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm which is a resort on an artificial island here in Dubai. The aquarium is named The Lost Chambers and we enjoyed walking through the rooms. We were fortunate that it was not very busy when we were there, so there were times that we felt we had the place to ourselves.

We booked a Desert Safari which is a popular concept with many different facets that many companies provide. Our Desert Safari driver picked us up, then a family from India at a hotel near by, then drove us to a location that had ATVs that you could drive around on the sand. It was a lot of fun and a great way to enjoy the desert. Then we got back in the SUV and he drove through the desert. It was like a roller coaster as you felt the SUV move through the sand and it had great views. We stopped for pictures then continued on to “camp”. Camp was a building with areas for seating and vendors inside where we had our camel ride and ate dinner. It was buffet with local foods such as hummus, shish kebabs and rice.

Camel ride back at the camp, during the Desert Safari. The handler of the two camels that gave rides was the one who took this picture. He took a lot and all were blurry... this was the best one.

Thank you for reading the blogs, looking at the pictures and sharing this adventure with us. This will be the last mobile blog, but expect to see at least one more when we return, with highlights from the trip and some more information on the beautiful places we have visited.
